New release from Montreal’s own Howl Arts collective premiering on this cool sound art blog:
It’s always interesting to see musical communities come together. In the case of this album, Montreal activist and Ambient musician Stefan Cristoff has paired up with NYC free jazz musician Ras Moshe resulting in a brilliant piece of music built entirely on in-the-moment ethereal sonic explorations. The piece begins with Cristoff’s signature dramatic piano playing style highlighted by simplistic bells. Moshe comes into the mix before the music takes its listener through many different combinations of sound with each player given time in the spotlight before electronic drones escape into oblivion. The work is produced by funk/electronic mastermind Nick Schofield who adds an extra Montreal flare capping off some amazing playing with some electronic depth.
